In phase 3, the virus
has won the battle. You immune defenses are critically weakened. Infections
in the brain, eyes, lungs and intestine spread through the body unchecked.
Malignant tumors develop. This stage is known as AIDS. Even if you're already
in Phase 3, you've done well to find the courage to fight the disease:
not only are AIDS symtoms treatable whether severe pneumonia or distressing
cold sores but they also give us the chance to hit the disease where it
hurts, with targeted treatment. It's our opportunity to grab AIDS by the
throat.
