When virus production on such a scale is brought to a sudden stop, it's understandable that there should at first be some unpleasant effects, though these are usually transient. Many patients experience nausea and "tummy rumbles" and feel unwell for the first two to three weeks. Some drugs cause diarrhea, while others can lead to numbness in the feet or hands after a few weeks. If these side effects do not resolve by themselves, the drug responsible can usually be replaced by one that is better tolerated.
